Archie Griffin, born in Columbus, Ohio in 1954, is the only player ever to win the Heisman Trophy twice (1974 and 1975), a distinction that has stood for nearly 50 years. Playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes from 1972 to 1975, Griffin rushed for over 5,589 yards, leading the team to four Big Ten titles and appearing in four Rose Bowls another record that underscores his consistency and dominance. His accolades include the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award, and multiple All-American honors, cementing his place as one of the greatest college athletes of all time.

Drafted in the first round of the 1976 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals, Griffin played seven seasons in the NFL, contributing as a reliable running back before finishing his professional career with the Jacksonville Bulls in the USFL. While his pro career didn't reach the same heights as his college days, his influence on the sport has been monumental. Griffin later became a respected ambassador for Ohio State, serving as the university's alumni association president and continuing to inspire generations of athletes and fans.
