He played for the San Diego Padres and then traded where he spent most his career with the St. Louis Cardinals. He was known for his fantastic defense and being able to have great range and turn double plays. He was very crafty but also ended his career with nearly 2,500 hits as well so he was an all around player. He was quick around the bases too. He earned his World Series victory with the Cardinals in 1982 his first year there. The Cardinals were a very successful team during his time in the league so only collecting one World Series ring was tough as they had made it to the Championship game three times during the 1980?s. He was a terrific shortstop earning 13 Gold Gloves and was a 15 time All Star. He made it into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2002.
