This Texas tornado has been causing fits for batters ever since he logged a 13-0 senior season and was named USA Today?s High School Player of the Year in 2006. The Dodgers recognized his potential and called Clayton Kershaw's name with the seventh overall pick in that year?s draft. Both hurlers got to the majors early on; Kershaw appeared in only 48 minor league games and was called to the majors at age 20, while Koufax, at age 19, went from a stellar freshman season at the University of Cincinnati straight to Ebbets Field, throwing two shutouts during the 1955 season as the Dodgers won their World Series championship in Brooklyn.

From 2011, however, he?s been the best pitcher in baseball. He has 99 wins vs. 35 losses with a 2.08 ERA and has appeared in six straight All Star games. He led the National League in ERA (4 times), strikeouts (3), and wins (2), and threw a no-hitter in 2014. He?s also won three Cy Young awards, a Gold Glove (2011), and was named Most Valuable Player (2014). At the end of his memorable 2014 season Kershaw was only 26 while Koufax was 27 when he won the first of his three Cy Youngs. These two southpaw sensations are forever linked in Dodger lore.
