After his career with the Redskins, Rypien served as a backup for the Cleveland Browns in 1994, the St. Louis Rams in ?95 and ?97, and the Philly Eagles in ?96. In ?98 he signed with the Atlanta Falcons, but the death of his son led him to leave the game and return in 2001 with the Indianapolis Colts.
