The Raptors did not go the way of the dinosaur. The 2019 NBA finals were played between the Two Time defending Champion Golden State Warriors and the young and hungry Toronto “We the North” Raptors. The Warriors were led by 3 point sniper Stephen Curry while battling a slew of injuries with leading scorer Kevin Durant out for 5 1/2 of the 6 games. The upstart Raptors were led by Kawhi “The Claw” Leonard. Coming into this match-up it was a battle of the NBA’s top offense and the top defense. Something had to give, and it was ultimately the offensive product of a depleted Warriors attack. From the beginning of this season, the Warriors were a heavy favorite to make it this far in the playoffs, but the Raptors were a true Cinderella story. Trading away their most popular player, Demar Derozan for Kawhi Leonard, new head coach Nick Nurse and the emergence of young forward Pascal Siakam. The non-stop defensive pressure of Toronto Raptors was too much for Golden State’s offense as the Raptors won the NBA Finals in 6 games on the home court of the Warriors. Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard has a knack for ending three-peat runs as this is the second time in his career, he has won the NBA Championship against a team going for a 3^rd straight ring.  Kawhi Leonard is making a name for himself quietly some would say as he is now a 2 time NBA Champion, 2 Time Finals MVP, 2 time defensive player of the year and all at the age of 27 and first entering the prime years of his career. The longest tenured Raptor, Kyle Lowry had a near triple double to propel his Canadian Club to a world championship.

Looking into next season there a few questions to be answered about both teams. Starting with the Warriors, Durant is now coming off of a torn Achilles injury and his contract has expired so where will he land this offseason? Klay Thompson tore his ACL in his left knee in the final game of the finals so what will the Warriors do to fill his void next season?

Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard’s contract has ended but will winning the Championship be enough to convince him to stay in Toronto? The Stanley Cup is heading to St. Louis for the first time in the franchises history as the Blues defeated the Bruins 4-1 in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup. Ryan O’Reilly won the MVP trophy and it was no surprise as he set a NHL record by scoring the Blues opening goal in the final 4 Stanley Cup games. The Blues young goalie Jordan Binnington played to almost perfection last night and looked like a true veteran as he stopped 32 of the 33 shots he faced last night. The Bruins put up a good fight this series behind captain Zdeno Chara in what may end up being the 42 year old veterans final NHL season. 9. Forrest Whitley – Houston Astros
After Astro Mania from 2013-2017 where it seemed Houston called up a can’t miss prospect ever year, the Astros have restocked the farm system for three long haul while they compete for the American League crown. Whitley expects to slot in the back end of the staf in 2019. With tutors like Verlander & Cole, Whitley will learn more up in Minute Maid Park than he will on the farm.

8. Mike Soroka – Atlanta Braves
The Braves young stars just keep coming. After Albies, Dansby and Acuna Jr, the Braves keep it coming with this young arm, Mike Soroka. He should slot well with a rotation that could use a power arm with high upside. We recommend going to our site to price shop Ronald Acuna signed baseballs.

7. Alex Reyes – St. Louis Cardinals

We will get the main attraction Vlad Jr. lower in the list but do not discount the the other budding stars rising with him. Last season, as Acuna Jr make his mark, sales for Albies, Swanson and other Braves followed right along. The Blue Jays will not be playing October baseball this year, but will be setting the tone for a good run in the early 2020’s.

4. Victor Robles – Washington Nationals
Robles is a gem. Exit Bryce Harper, Enter Victor Robles. While their skill sets are rather different – Robles offers a fresh approach for Nationals fans. Robles could easily become a member of the 30-30 club. Victor is a unique athlete who will join Juan Soto in the DC Outfield for years to come.

3. Eloy Jimenez – Chicago White Sox Eloy! Eloy! Eloy! The former Cubs #1 Prospect debuts on the South Side in 2019 with the Sox. Eloy Jimenez will showcase extreme power in Guaranteed Rate Field. As the Southsiders try to make their mark on the city, a young player like Eloy Jimenez will be key. Jimenez was acquiring from the cross-town rival Cubs for Jose Quintana in 2017.
