Spring Training Stars

The Arizona Diamondbacks selected A.J. Pollock in the first round of the 2009 MLB Draft as a center fielder. After a great career in the minor leagues, he made his MLB debut in 2012. This young star has survived two instances where he broke his elbow, yet came back strong. His autographed MLB collectibles are in demand after great 2017 season.
When the Diamondbacks invited Pollock to spring training in 2010, he broke his right elbow while attempting to make a diving catch. Pollock missed the entire season due to the injury.
In 2015, Pollock had a breakout year, winning a Gold Glove Award and being voted to the All-Star team.
After rehab in the minors, Pollock was again called up to the majors in 2012. Batting as a pinch hitter for Justin Upton, Pollock collected his first career MLB hit, a single, on April 23 against the Phillies. He played in 31 games that season for the Diamondbacks, batting .247 with two home runs and eight RBIs. In 2013, Pollock batted .269 with eight home runs and 38 RBIs over the course of 137 games.
Pollock missed the second half of the 2014 season with an injury. Up to that point in the season, he was batting .302. In 2015, he was named a National League All-Star. He ended the season batting .315 with 20 home runs and 76 RBIs. Pollock signed to a two-year contract extension worth $10.25 million on February 8, 2016. Pollock broke his right elbow again at the end of spring training, this time on a slide at home plate, and missed most of the 2016 season. In the 12 games he would appear in during the 2016 season, Pollock would record 10 hits on 41 at bats, a .244 batting average.
On May 15, 2017, Pollock was placed on the 10-day disabled list due to a right groin strain. Over the course of 112 games in 2017, Pollock would record a batting average of .266, 14 home runs, and 49 RBI.

When you average 150 base hits per season like Billy Hamilton does, and can steal a base pretty much whenever you want, you become a pretty valuable asset to a team like the Cincinnati Reds. You also have a very high value for your autographed MLB collectibles. Hamilton’s signed memorabilia is always in demand, since he has more stolen bases than two of the best the game has ever seen.
This ultra-speedy center fielder holds the Minor League Baseball single-season stolen base record with 155 steals—10 higher than the previous Minor League record set by Vince Coleman, and 25 more than Rickey Henderson’s record set for MLB.
Hamilton became the first Major League player since 1920 to steal four bases in his first Major League start. In his first 10 times on base, he stole nine bases and scored six runs. He was successful in his first 13 steal attempts, before being thrown out on his 14th attempt.
An interesting factoid: At the opening of the 2015 season, Billy Hamilton joined Vince Coleman as the only players in MLB history to steal six bases in their team’s first three games. In the following game, he stole a seventh base, again matching Coleman for a record by being one of two players to steal seven bases within the first four games of the season.

This very talented young pitcher for the Seattle Mariners is just getting better with each season. Paxton greatly improved between the 2016 and 2017 seasons, as shown in 2017 when he threw for a W/L record of 12-5, had a very low 2.98 ERA, and whipped 156 strikeouts. His autographed baseball memorabilia is becoming somewhat of a collector’s item amongst fans and investors alike. He has some nice items that we can barely keep in stock, and that now fill a bunch of man-caves across the country, in Canada, and in Europe.
In June 2010, Paxton was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the fourth round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft. At 6’4” and 215 pounds, he uses his full body strength and height to place heavy torque on his fastball, which sets up hitters to fall for the curve that drops about a half-foot within two feet of home plate. This left-handed blazer gives much consternation to opposing hitters, and in his few short seasons, has compiled a very respectable pitching record of W/L of 30-20, an ERA of 3.28, and strikeouts of 409.
The Mariners and their fans expect a great 2018 season from Paxton as spring training begins while I write this.

He defeated the National League’s Bryce Harper in the final round by hitting 9 home runs, with five swings to spare. Though Cèspedes had a great postseason, the A’s were eliminated by the Detroit Tigers. Céspedes suffered several injuries that season including wrist, hamstring, and knee injuries.

Justin Smoak is a hard-hitting first baseman for the Toronto Blue Jays who is very popular with the fans. His autographed MLB collectibles are well-esteemed and keep their value year after year. He is coming into his own after a few up-and-down years.
On October 28, 2014, the Toronto Blue Jays claimed Smoak off of waivers. He made his debut with Toronto on Opening Day. In a game at Yankee Stadium on August 8, Smoak became the first Blue Jay to hit a grand slam against the Yankees at their home field. He split time at first base for most of the 2015 season, and in 132 games, Smoak batted .226 with 18 home runs and a career-high 59 RBI. Not a bad year.
Then Justin Smoak signed a one-year, $3.9 million contract for the 2016 season with the Blue Jays for 2015. He had a less than stellar couple of years until 2017 when he began to flourish after changing batting coaches. He was included on the team’s Wild Card and Division Series rosters, but was left off the Championship Series roster. On October 15, Smoak was added to Toronto’s ALCS roster.
In 2017, Smoak was voted as the American League starting first baseman for the 2017 Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Miami. At the time of the announcement, Smoak had a .303 batting average and 22 home runs, both of which were career highs. The Oakland Athletics have one heck of a talented left fielder in Khris Davis, who is also one of the nicest guys in the majors. He always takes time to give autographs to kids, and we have a collection of certified signed MLB collectibles by Khris Davis. However, we have had a hard time keeping his autographed memorabilia in stock due to his popularity.
Khris Davis is exciting and super-consistent baseball player. Just look at his slashes in 2016 and 2017:
2017 – ABs: 566, RUNS: 91, HITS: 140, RBIs: 110, Home Runs: 43, BA: .247
2016 – ABs: 555, RUNS: 85, HITS: 137, RBIs: 102, Home Runs 42, BA: .247
It doesn’t get much more consistent than that. He is the only Athletic to ever have back-to-back 40-homer seasons.
Davis was a rookie with the Milwaukee Brewers who opened up an everyday role for Davis. After a slow start, batting .219 with an on-base percentage of .250 and a slugging percentage of .388 through May 20, Davis hit four home runs in six games. At the All-Star Break, Davis led the Brewers with 15 home runs. In 144 games for the Brewers, Davis hit .244 with 22 home runs and 69 RBI. Had a solid year in 2015, battimg .247 with 27 home runs and 66 RBI in 121 games.
In 2016, the Brewers traded Davis to the Oakland Athletics, where Davis promptly hit 3 home runs, including a walk-off grand slam for the third. This was only the second time this has happened in MLB history.
On August 14, 2016, Davis hit his 30th home run of the season, a two-run homer against the Seattle Mariners. On September 18, 2016, Davis hit his 39th and 40th home runs of the season in a game against the Rangers. He added two more homers to conclude the season. He also contributed 102 RBI for the season, becoming the first player in the franchise to hit 100 or more RBIs since the 2006 season, when Frank Thomas had 114 RBIs for the Athletics.

His first home run came at home on August 16, tying the game against the Cardinals in the first inning with a two-run home run to right field at Minute Maid Park.
For the 2016 season, he batted .264/.313/.478 with 8 home runs and 34 RBIs in 49 games. His slugging percentage was the seventh-best of any Astros rookie all-time.

It is unusual for a major league baseball pitcher to stand only 5’8” tall, but Marcus Stroman sure makes the most of what he has been given by nature, improving every year he pitches for the Toronto Blue Jays. His autographed baseball memorabilia is becoming more popular with every pitch, and his stature has made him a special fan favorite.
Stroman’s major league career began when was called up to the Blue Jays in 2014 and pitched well throughout his first season whenever he got a chance. He nailed his first complete game (a shutout) on September 8, needing only 93 pitches to beat the Chicago Cubs. He gave up three hits and retired 19 consecutive batters before giving up a single. However, he required knee surgery which kept him out for much of the year.
He has been pitching very strong since his return and has steadily improved his game and control in the past two years. Stroman struck out 13 Houston Astros batters in a no-decision in 2016 and ended the season with a 9–10 record, 4.37 ERA, and 166 strikeouts. On October 3, he had his first start in a Wild Card game, throwing for six innings and giving up just two runs. The little “big guy” struck out six and the Blue Jays advanced to the 2016 American League Division Series. Stroman was scheduled to start the fourth game of the ALDS against the Rangers, however the Blue Jays swept Texas and advanced to play the Cleveland Indians in the American League Championship Series. Stroman pitched 5 innings and yielded four earned runs in his lone ALCS start.
In addition to his pitching excellence, Stroman is a damned good hitter, smacking home runs with impunity and even coming into a game as a pinch-hitter. After a strong 2017 in which Stroman won the Gold Glove Award and was elected the World Baseball Classic MVP, fans in Milwaukee look forward to a very strong 2018 season for the shortest pitcher in the league who has a long reach to the plate.

Wil Myers is the steady first baseman for the San Diego Padres, and a former AL Rookie of the Year in 2013. He was an All-Star in 2016, and has more natural potential than even Willie Mays when it comes to fruition. Wil Myers’s autographed MLB collectibles are some of the coolest collectibles on the MLB market.
In spite of the fact that he did not join the Rays until their 70th game on June 18, Myers led AL rookies with a total of 53 RBIs in the 88 games he played. The last player to lead AL rookies in RBIs in fewer than 90 games was Hoot Evers playing for the Detroit Tigers in 1946, when he had 33 in 81 games. He also became the first ever hitter to win the award in under 100 games
Myers, after winning NL player of the month in June, was selected to his first all star team and named a participant in the 2016 home run derby. The 2016 season would prove to be Myers’ breakout season after two straight injury riddled seasons. He led the team in various offensive categories while also setting career highs offensively. He finished with 28 home runs, 28 stolen bases and 94 RBIs in 157 games.
He had a career-high 30 homers in 2017 and showed more of his untapped potential.
Professional MLB baseball observers believe that 2018 will be the year where Wil Myers pulls it all together, and so do we.

After being signed as an amateur free agent by the Red Sox in 2009, Bogaerts made his MLB debut in 2013, appearing in 30 games between the regular season and postseason, and helping the Red Sox to the World Series championship. Heading into the 2013 season, Bogaerts was ranked the fifth overall prospect by ESPN’s Keith Law, who described him as “Still just 20 years old, Bogaerts has been playing solid shortstop for Portland with a solid walk rate but not the power expected from his explosive swing.” Entering 2013, Bogaerts ranked 6th in the MLB.com Top 100 Prospects list, and 8th in the Baseball America Top 100 Prospects list. He became the Red Sox’ starting shortstop in 2014, and was awarded American League Silver Slugger award at the position in back to back years in 2015 and 2016.
Bogaerts broke out in 2015, leading the Red Sox with a career-high .320 average, finishing second only to Miguel Cabrera for the AL batting title. From late July, Bogaerts began to bat second or third exclusively. He was awarded the Silver Slugger award for shortstop. On top of his breakout offense, Bogaerts was also a finalist for the Rawlings Gold Glove Award at shortstop. In 2016, Bogaerts again began the season as the Red Sox’ starting shortstop, primarily batting third. Between May 6 and June 2, Bogaerts hit safely in 26 consecutive games. His hitting streak came to an end in a loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on June 3. In 2016, he was chosen to play in his first ever MLB All Star Game of his career. Bogaerts finished the season batting .294 and was once again given the American League’s shortstop Silver Slugger Award.
Below are a few choice signed and certified memorabilia by Xander Bogearts that would grace any wall or man-cave.
